The move by TV and internet market leader RCS&RDS to remove the Discovery Channel from its offerings sparked an intense debate in the Romanian society and media. Discovery filed a complaint with the National Audiovisual Council of Romania, angry customers filed petitions against the cable operator and even created FaceBook pages on this topic. Several institutions are to decide whether RCS&RDS has violated audiovisual, competition and consumer protection laws.
